Have you wondered when and where the “Sunday School” started? Way back in mid of 17th Century, Sunday’s School was started for the poor who cannot afford education, in England.
The Sunday School would teach proper behaviour, cleanliness, decent manners etc. Slowly this changed and Bible provided the text for teaching the truths of the Gospel. Un-churched poor children had the opportunity of knowing the love of true living God and many children started to come and learn continuously.
What does CSI Christ Church Sunday school do?
The Sunday School investments are considered the most important years of any Christian.
Our Church gives the needed nurture to these crucial foundational years which willplay influence throughout their life. Our children are competently assisted by teachers and volunteers who have a vision for children and are skilled to work with them. Our Sunday school caters to around 100 plus Children. We almost see full strength on every Sundays.
Our dedicated teachers do specialise different methods of teaching − Bible-based teaching, memory verses, stories from the Bible, small choruses and action songs.
The active participation and enjoyment of the children can be reflected through their involvement in children choir, memorizing Bible verses, quizzes, games and other activities that are intentionally and strategically packed around the word of God. The Sunday’s school happens during the sermon time. While the Adults spend time around the Word of God, children do the same in their own way.
Yearly once we have games competition, attendance prizes, Christmas and New Year plays etc. The Sunday school team also plans for a children retreats once a year, where children are given time to renew their faith and develop a deeper thirst for their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
During the month of May every year, we do have Vocational Bible School for the children in and around from Iruttupallam, Semmedu, Karunya Nagar, Alandurai, Mathuvarayapuram. It is a blessing from our Heavenly Father as children of all religion do take active part and learn the truth of our living God.
The Sunday School is headed by Mrs. Grace Chellam and Mr. Abraham Iyyadurai.
